TCL Architects (Tidy + Cáceres + Lazo) submitted their proposal for the TIP Magallanes Competition. The project is a new terminal located in the historical Prat Dock in Punta Arenas, capable of hosting the arrival of international cruiseships, fishing vessels and scientific expeditions.

Construction works for Factoría Italia project started with demilion and excavation phase, which will last eight months. After that a three year process will take place to build up the 40,000m2 complex. The project is in association with Gabriel Cáceres and Daniel Lazo (TCL Arahitects).

Two competition projects by Tidy Architects are featured in AOA's Magazine las issue. In association with Cristóbal Riffo and Felipe Grallert, the theam obtained seond prize in national competition for the Chilean Paviion in next Expo Milan 2015. Also first prize for Mario Toral Museum competition obtained by Tidy Architects is included.

The buildings known as "Sombrarería Girardi" hosted originally a hat industry in the early 30´s, and now seeks for a new identity as a multi-programatic complex that will host activities related to the creative industry of art and design. Factoría Italia is expected to be the the consolidation step for this emerging design district.

During October 13th -14th we didi the last visit to the construction works in Valdivia, before the final inspection expected for November. Emilio Pugin Hall is a renovation project obtained in a national competition, for recovering Universidad Austral de Chile (UACH) most important building after a fire destroyed it completely in 2007.
Between october 1st and the 15th will take place the Latin American Creative Biennale in the Telefónica Space Gallery. The exhibition includes a section called Dieño de Autor (Author´s design) where architects and designers work in joint ventures with specific design related enterprises. In the case of Tidy Architects, they were invited to work along prestigious kitchen furniture manufacturer Xilofor, in a flexible kitchen concept called Cook 1999.
Prestigious custom made furniture Xilofor has invited Tidy brothers to develop a proposal under their signature for the coming exhibition Santiago Diseño organized by Ambientes magazine. This event is considered among the most important in the country and in this version it will feature a new section called "Diseño de Autor ("Authors design"). The exhibition will take place in the Telefónica space next October.

Tidy architests is rennovating the appartment for famous TV presenter and musician and chilean pop star singer. Works are expected to be finished by the end of October. The building is located in one of Santiago´s trendiest historic cultural district.
Architect and critic Miquel Adria was invited as curator by Director Tomás Andreu to be curator for making a selection of contemporary chilean architecture work. The result is a book titled "White Mountain" which includes the work of 62 architecture studios illustrated in 600 pages. As part of the celebrations for Edition number 100 of magazine Todo Obras (www.zonacreativa.cl), a selection of the 100 most representative Works published since the magazine was founded in Chile, were gathered in a exhibition that took place in the recently inaugurated Gabriela Mistral Cultural Center (GAM) in Santiago. The openning was presented by its director, Mr. Tomás Dagnino.
Belgium photographer Jean-Luc Laloux (www.laloux.be) spent the last few months on a trip around the world and presents unique reports of 12 homes in Australia, New Zealand, Chile, Vermont, Canada, and Shelter Island as unique natural settings. This beautiful 200 page hard cover book devotes 24 pages for a complete graphic coverage of Muller House designed in year 2003.
Last month the construction works for "Emilio Pugin" science building started at Isla Teja campus in Valdivia city. The project won in national open competition recovers a 10.000m2 concrete structure which survived a fire that destroyed the original building in year 2008. Renovation works are expected to be finished by second semester 2011.
Last saturday Nov. 27 the XVII version of Chilean Biennale closed successfully. Our studio was selected with Casa Martinez for the national exhibition section.

The site is a pronounced slope in a wealthy neighborhood located in eastern Santiago capital city. The amazing view is captured by the public program conceived in a "floating" platform that precedes gradually along the site´s slope the intimate program that ends in the master bedroom.

Wallpaper´s last march edition includes article "The Hills have Eyes" referred to Martinez House in Aculeo lagoon. Casa Martinez is one of a series of refined contemporary houses created by the Tidy Brothers. Albert and Ian since they set up their Santiago practice ten years ago.
Italian photographer and PhD Architect Sergio Pirrone recently shot Martínez House at Aculeo lagune, nearby Santiago-Chile. So far as authors we consider Pirrone´s work as the best to capture the house escence as well as its relation with the surrounding landscape. (more pictures in "obras" section in main menu).
